They say that a change is as good as a rest and I quite agree - sometimes a wee change of scene, even for just a few hours, is enough to shift your perspective, refresh and re-inspire. A flying visit to the Lake District earlier this week did just that for me.
Even though the holidays have been slower - and a lovely change of pace compared to my day job - I had been packing a lot in for a variety of reasons. I’ve been recipe testing for that project I promise I’ll tell you about in the Spring, and we have also been trying to get a run at painting the kitchen during the (novel!) daylight hours at home over the holidays. Good busy, and exciting and on my own terms - but my body was also crying out for a rest and reset. This came in the form of a special family birthday date in the diary for dinner in the South Lakes.
