When readers and followers ask me the best time to visit Scotland, I always say Spring or Autumn - something about these times of transition calls to me, particularly the unique nature you can see, a balance between lighter, longer days and cosy evenings, and less visitors around often makes for a quieter experience! So I thought it would be apt to put together a wee guide sharing some of my favourite spots to see in the Spring, with a particular focus on flowers. The double meaning of the title of this post is not lost on me: this year, Spring has felt slower than ever to arrive - and yet, slowing down and enjoying the moment - with each flower unfurling in its time - is certainly still something to savour.

I had a wee flurry of new paid subscribers after my last post, so welcome to our community of likeminded old souls here! I’ll pop the kettle on, and let me take you on a little armchair travel - or, if you’re local, maybe you’ll be inspired to visit some of these spots or to save this post for later visits.
