As the temperatures rise and light levels begin to increase, Beltane is well on the way and the blossom begins to bloom. Or rather, blossoms - April sees cherry blossom, crab apple and hawthorn blossoms arrive, followed by rowan and apple blossom flowering into May and even June. One of my favourite things about blossom season is that you can see so much of it in the city - in parks, on streets and in gardens - as well as in the countryside in hedgerow and woodland. Over the last few days here in Edinburgh blossoms of all kind are bursting into bloom in shades from pale white to deep pink. In today’s post I’m sharing different types of blossom to look out for, and, as we reach peak blossom season here over the next couple of weeks, I’m sharing five ways that I’m celebrating this micro-seasonal moment and preserving some of its joy too.
