Have you noticed the very first signs of the seasonal shift? We walked along the canal here in Edinburgh the other day, and as well as the magenta pink blooms of rosebay willowherb and frothy cream flowers of meadowsweet that sing of late summer, I spotted the first ripening brambles of the season, warm from the sun and plump and ready for picking. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - this time of year as summer transitions gradually into autumn is my very favourite. In a bid to stay present and not get too far ahead of myself, I’m practising some preserving mindfulness and bottling up as much seasonal goodness as I can - both literally and metaphorically.
