An Exciting Announcement for 1000 Followers
1000 thank yous and introducing my new Substack community.
I wanted to start by saying a massive thank you to each and every one of you for following my newsletter as I near 1000 followers! I’m so excited for the community we are building here: a network of old souls, nature lovers, seasonal and slow living enthusiasts learning how to make and celebrate the everyday together.
I wish I could bake you all a cake or celebrate this milestone in person together, but in place of that, and as a thank you, I’ve been thinking about how we can extend our online community and how I can offer you even more. As a result, I’m launching something I’ve been thinking about for a while now: the Everything Looks Rosie subscriber community.
As well as my regular newsletters, which will now go out on the first Sunday of every month, you can sign up for even more behind the scenes and in-depth content. To use Substack’s own analogy, my free newsletters are the “main stage”, while the subscriber community is the “backstage pass”. Here’s a flavour of some of the things you will get in the subscriber community:
The Creative Life: personal updates on projects I’m working on, interviews with authors and makers, and a look behind the scenes of publishing, seasonal reading recommendations.
Rosie Makes: exclusive crafts, recipes and opportunities to be involved in the development of exciting projects!
Community Focus: Question and Answer sessions and discussion threads on all things seasonal, slow living, and the Celtic Wheel of the Year.
Edinburgh and Scotland Slow Living Guides: my favourite places to visit, itineraries, local makers that share my ethos.
Home Updates: seasonal decorating, renovating, interior tips and styling how-tos and vlogs.
Expect considered content in your inbox twice weekly, for less per month than the price of a cocktail in Edinburgh during the Fringe Festival! I’ll be sharing more about my plans in the coming weeks so make sure you’re subscribed so that you hear about the launch next month as well as how to sign up.
It feels scary and vulnerable to put this out there but I’ve been writing online for 12 years now (!) and I’m excited by the potential to carve out a space for us to share together online that’s not dominated by algorithms, where I can meet you right in your inbox. I will be sharing some news soon about a longer writing project I’ve been working on in secret for some time as well. Both involve carving out a more creative way of life, something I’ve wanted for so, so long. My day job as a teacher is the antithesis of slow living and as the new term begins here in Scotland I want to make my new plans public and put it out into the universe in the hope I can seriously prioritise my writing - as it’s something I want to, have to, do. For me, and also for you.
I’d love to have you along with me for the ride, so I hope you join me. I’d be so grateful if you let me know your thoughts in the comments, including what you would like to see and you can help to shape this new community! And, as always, if you prefer to reply privately my inbox is always open too.
In the meantime, I’d be so grateful if you helped me spread the word about my Substack and help me find other old souls to share a love of slow and seasonal living with.
Thanks again and love to you all xxx
