For the last couple of weeks, the Internet has felt very loud, buzzing with New Year Resolutions, words of the year, goals, new health and exercise regimes. All of this has left me feeling overwhelmed and exhausted just seeing and hearing it all! At the same time, the weather has been pretty grim here, and many of us are still getting up and leaving work in darkness; it’s a time where we need to be kinder than ever to ourselves. I wrote in my Hogmanay newsletter about why I don’t make resolutions, and it seemed like it really resonated with many of you, but I also acknowledge that January noise is hard to ignore and that January as a month is really difficult for many, including me. I wanted to write something to try to help us nurture slowness instead. I thought I’d split my ideas, tips and journaling prompts into two posts over the coming weeks: starting with some gentle reflection, followed by planning with kindness a little later.
