Glimmer [n]: a faint or wavering light, a faint feeling or quality.

As we approach the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, Imbolc, tomorrow, I’m noticing the smallest signs of spring as the seasons begin to gently shift. The term “glimmers” (first coined by social worker Deb Dana) refers to micro joys that help us feel hopeful and safe. Growing research suggests that consciously looking for positive cues (glimmers) and noting them down helps us to maintain calm by soothing our parasympathetic nervous system. As we mark the turn of the year tomorrow with Imbolc, here are the glimmers I’ve been seeking out recently: things I’ve been making, baking, doing, reflecting and working on.
