Renovating an Edinburgh Tenement: Part 3

This week, we finally moved into our new tenement! It’s been a long time coming - over a year looking, six months since we had our offer accepted, delays with my buyer then just under 12 weeks of renovating. It felt so, so good to sleep in my own bed after so long, I can tell you!

The project ended up being a bigger one than we had anticipated as the flat had been neglected and needed a lot of love. But it had the great bare bones we were after - just a tiny kitchenette with very old appliances and a bathroom that was literally crumbling (little did we know how much) - giving us the opportunity to put our own stamp on the flat by designing our own kitchen and bathroom. We were lucky to be able to stay with relatives so could do lots at once to make this beautiful flat into a home.

My latest vlog follows the plastering, the kitchen unfolding, the bathroom and wood burner going in, the lining paper being put up, joinery work and lastly - just last weekend! - the floor sanding.

There’s definitely a healthy dose of renovation reality in this week’s vlog as you will find out…
