Ever since I first got into drawing, design and illustrating as a child I loved to make mood boards. These collages were usually made up of cuttings from magazines, sometimes mixed in with my own drawings: outfits, make-up and interior design ideas all featured. I would organise them by colour, by trend or by topic and spend hours cutting and sticking in notebooks - arranging, re-arranging and layering until I had my preferred composition. I enjoyed the process as much as the finished product.
Not much has changed many years on. So when we had our offer accepted on our Edinburgh tenement last Spring, I tentatively started mood boarding to organise the myriad of overflowing design ideas in my brain and thought I would share some of this process with you.
