January should be a time for slowing down and taking stock, following the pace of the season we’re in. A time for reflecting on the year just gone. A time for gentle plans and projects.
And yet, too often there is a feeling that time should speed up: a pressure to reinvent ourselves for the new year coupled with an impatience for Spring to come. Both understandable pressures on short Winter days where the light is in short supply and the rain lashes the windows as it is this evening. But life is too short to wish time away and there’s so much beauty to be found. I hear another cold snap is on its way, so over the next few weeks - as ever - I’ll be trying my best to embrace the season we’re in.
