Happy Winter Solstice! Today is the shortest day and longest night, a time of reflection, quiet, and embracing the light wherever you can find it. As you probably know by now, I find a lot of my light by making things inspired by the season and sharing them with you. So to celebrate the Solstice today I have two posts in one: a very special and indulgent festive bake - a tiramisu pavlova with chocolate meringue base, mascarpone cream filling and coffee custard topping - and a simple but effective festive craft with copper leaves.

It’s a festive tradition in this space to share a Yule “showstopper” bake on our around the Winter Solstice and this tiramisu pavlova certainly fit the bill as a celebratory bake. It also tastes delicious and looks impressive but is the kind of thing you can make the night before and assemble the next day - which is exactly the kind of bake I want and need in this season of life. Plus I’m sharing step by step instructions for hand embossed metal decorations too - a craft that has been helping me switch off in the evenings and has brought some sparkle and shine to these dark days.
